Full-Day Workshop

Seminar: Learning disabilities: Promoting social and emotional learning in the classroom

Research consistently shows that by focusing on student’s social and emotional learning (SEL) has a positive impact on their academic success, quality of relationships between teachers and students, and a decrease in problem behaviour (Durlak, Weissberg, Dymnicki, Taylor, & Schellinger, 2011). Social emotional learning focuses on five areas 1) self-awareness, 2) self-management, 3) social awareness, 4) relationship skills, and 5) responsible decision-making. This practical and interactive workshop will provide you with the tools to explicitly teach these skills through your everyday interactions in the classroom.
