Full-Day Workshop

Seminar: Supporting Sensational Children’s Learning in Class

In order to pay attention and learn in a classroom situation, children need to be settled and alert. They also need to be able to stay seated for a reasonable period of time. As most of the teaching is done through visual and auditory media, children do need to have functional vision and hearing in order to gather the information from their teachers and the teaching materials.

Very often, parents and teachers find children with sensory challenges have difficulty in sitting properly and paying attention. Despite their ability to see and hear, some of them may not be able to gather the necessary visual images and auditory messages in an efficient and discriminative manner. Parents and teachers can work together to help these children to learn and perform better in class. In this one-day workshop, simple sensorimotor programs and strategies to support children’s participation and learning in class will be discussed.
