Speaker: Jannie B. Olsen

Jannie B. Olsen, MMH/BSW/Dip.Art/Cert.IV holder, is an accredited professional art psychotherapist and mental health social worker. She has many years of experience working with and teaching about art in mental health, child development/behaviour/learning difficulties and family systems. She has worked in countries like Denmark, Vietnam, India, UK, US, Nepal and Australia.

Course Outline

The Tree of Life workshop is an approach that helps people talk about their life in an empowering way that they may never have before. This one-day workshop will be a hands-on workshop that provides participants with a powerful tool to engage with any age group in a broad variety of settings.

Course Objectives

Participants will learn through discussions, reflection and hands-on activities:

  1. How to use art and words in communication
  2. How to use tree as a concept to talk about life
  3. How art can be part of creating a safe space when talking about difficult subjects
  4. The power of creativity in understanding of self and in empowering the individual
  5. How using this concept can support connectedness in groups

All professionals (social workers, counsellors, SPED teachers, therapists, parents/caregivers) working with vulnerable individuals and/or groups of all ages.
