Half-Day Workshop

Seminar: Enhancing Learning through Functional Vision

Vision plays an important role in children’s academic learning, in particular, reading and writing. Uncorrected/ untreated visual problems could affect children’s attention, learning and behaviour. A good pair of spectacles can help a person to see clearly. Yet they cannot improve the other important functions of the eyes, e.g. the ability of the two eyes to work together as a team, the ability to change focus and to move efficiently. Such functions are vital for a child’s effective participation in schoolwork tasks in the classroom, such as copying from the board, reading and writing, and also online home-based learning.

In this webinar, the functions of vision in academic learning as well as the possible underlying visual issues contributing to difficulty in learning will be discussed. Participants will also be given ideas and practice in using different simple activities to improve functional vision for academic learning.
