Full-Day Workshop

Seminar: Dysgraphia, Fine Motor and Handwriting Skills

Dysgraphia is a much “talked-about” topic in educational circles today. As it is relatively easy to identify when a student has a handwriting difficulty, it is not so easy to “chase the why”. This workshop will demystify the different components necessary to consider in the variety of aspects considering the act of writing. We will consider what current research and literature postulates, as well as consider assessment and intervention. Therapy ideas will be shown through video and classroom strategies will be shared. As we are transitioning more and more into replacing typing for actual handwriting, we will also look at what the research really says about this. This course will cover theory, but also assessment and practical tips within each category. The professional will feel empowered to look deeper and consider more options to intervene successfully. Handwriting can be changed, though not only through the repeated actions of repeatedly practicing letters.
