3 Full-Day Workshop

Seminar: Sensory Processing Disorders for Speech Language Therapists

Speech- and language therapists working with children know how difficult it can be to meet the individual needs of each child. Especially when this child has trouble processing (sensory) information, seems difficult to activate, is too active or very sensitive to sensory input.

In this workshop you will learn the basic, recent (evidence based) and relevant knowledge on sensory processing disorders and its implications for speech, language and feeding.

This workshop focusses on clinical work with children, with and without cognitive and/or neurological disorders.

A proficient level of understanding English is necessary to attend.

Dates:17 to 19 Aug 2023 (Thu to Sat)
Time:9.00am - 5.00pm
Venue:RNN Conference Centre
Speaker: Karin Brinkmann

After having worked in her private practice for 25 years, in 2016 Karin started focussing on mentoring SLP's, OT's and PT's, teachers and (professional) caregivers. Her main specialty is children with speech (-motor) and language disorders, sensory processing disorders, and/or neurological disorders.

Karin: "I have been teaching about Sensory Processing since the late 90's. I focus on speech therapists for this, because I want them to be able to understand what the role of Sensory Processing is in developing speech, language, and feeding skills. I believe it can make treatment easier and more effective as I stress the importance of working in a functional way. Also, by recognising the children's individual way of processing information, it is possible to help them see this as a strength and not as a 'problem'."

Karin has also been a PROMPT instructor since 2008, and travels the world to teach both PROMPT and Sensory Processing in English, Dutch and German.
